Living Will

The Living Will, also known as advance directives or will directives, is a document where people express their wishes, preferences and decisions about what they want to happen in terms of treatments they want or do not want to receive, in case they are too sick or unable to decide, as part of an informed consent. This document can also include the last will in the event of your death.

The Living Will is a document of great importance for the Catholic Church because it seeks to respect the dignity of the human being until the moment of death. In addition, it takes into account the wishes of the person in terms of disposing of the funeral services and burial of their mortal remains. This is very important because we know that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Servicios Funerarios Católicos wishes to educate citizens about the Living Will so that people can, in the face of death, have a dignified transition in light of the Catholic faith and doctrine.

Supporting our community

Servicios Funerarios Católicos (SFC) is a ministry and charitable organization of the Archidiocese of San Juan, Puerto Rico that also serves the Diocese of Mayagüez, the Diocese of Fajardo/Humacao and the Diocese of Ponce. As a pastoral of the Catholic Church, we provide funerary services, cemetery and cremations as well as educational community assistance for parishes and caretakers organizations.

Our mission is to provide orientation and knowledge about final burial options. Even though we charge for our services in what has become a very commercial industry, as a charitable organization we are committed to providing innovative programs that offer financial assistance, free options and programs that satisfy the needs of our faith community.

Message from the Archbishop of San Juan, Puerto Rico

One of the most sacred moments of our lives is death. At this moment we must treat the body with utmost respect, reverence and love.

The separation from our loved one that death causes produces a unique trauma that requires unique consoling that only God can give us and that we come to know through the love of Jesus and his Church.

Servicios Funerarios Católicos (SFC) is a ministry of the Archidiocese of San Juan Puerto Rico to accompany, console and offer funeral services to people and families when they experience the death of a loved one. SFC offers a complete variety of funeral services.

Burying our dead is an act of grace. Let us imitate Mary, Mother of Jesus when she buried her Son in the Garden of Gethsemane.

May the souls of the faithful who have died by the grace of God rest in peace!

Roberto O. González Nieves OFM

Metropolitan Archbishop of San Juan
